Chisinau Mayor General visited Bucharest City Hall the second day after inauguration

The second day after being inducted into office, Chisinau Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca visited Romania’s Capital City at the invitation of the Bucharest Mayor, Adriean Videanu.
Priority issues of the two capital cities, such as: transport, infrastructure, wastewater treatment utilities, traffic, etc., were tackled within the meeting with Mayor Adriean Videanu and Deputy Mayor Razvan Murgeanu. The similarity of stages undergone by Bucharest and Chisinau was also outlined.
After the meeting, Dorin Chirtoaca stated that the inhabitants of the two capital cities are dealing with similar problems. In this respect, he found stimulating the rhythm of the works on rehabilitating the Bucharest infrastructure, by stressing on the quality and by keeping the deadlines for the works. “Moldova’s capital city needs the same economic start as Bucharest a few years ago”, Chirtoaca said.
For his part, Adriean Videanu welcomed his counterpart from Chisinau and said that he would grant the assistance required by a close co-operation between the two cities. He stated that the municipal officials of the two capital cities would look for getting the best ways of co-operation.
The communiqué of the Chisinau City Hall, quoted by Info-Prim Neo, gives out some information on the meeting between Romania’s President Traian Basescu and Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca. The collocutors discovered that they attended the same lyceum in Iasi, “Costache Negruzzi”, of course, in different years. Traian Basescu has expressed his hope that the co-operation between the two local administrations will further develop. Dorin Chirtoaca said he intends to contribute to the development of the bilateral relations by strengthening the links at local administration level.
There is a town-twinning agreement between Chisinau and Bucharest, signed by mayors Serafim Urecheanu and Traian Basescu on November 4, 1999.
