The fourth Moldova Support Platform Summit started in Chisinau. The event involves the foreign affairs ministers of Germany and France and the secretary general of the Government of Romania, the three states being the initiators of the Platform. According to Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the discussions will focus on how Moldova’s partners will support the country and the actions that will be based on the support offered to Moldova in the medium and long terms for joining the EU, IPN reports.

“This is the fourth meeting of the Moldova Support Platform that was launched and initiated by our friends from France, Germany and Romania. Together with over 30 states and international organizations, last year they mobilized to help the Republic of Moldova to manage the crisis in our country, which was indirectly and directly caused by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. Through the agency of this platform, we enjoyed a lot of support in the management of the refugee crisis, in the financial-budgetary stabilization of our country and its coming closer to the European Union,” Nicu Popescu stated on the sidelines of the event.

French Minister of Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna said the Platform was created to provide support and assistance to the Republic of Moldova so that it copes with the challenges and consequences of Russia’s war against Ukraine. The objective is to ensure stability and resilience in the Republic of Moldova and the region.

Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany Annalena Baerbock said that today’s meeting in the Republic of Moldova shows the solidarity of the foreign partners that offer support to ensure the security and resilience of the Republic of Moldova in the regional context.

“I’m glad to moderate, together with the ministers of France and Germany, the fourth Moldova Support Platform Summit that we initiated. Surely, our presence here gives a very clear message and signal of solidarity, of unity and confidence in the European course of the Republic of Moldova, which ultimately interests us all,” said the secretary general of the Government of Romania Mircea Abrudean. “Definitely, it will be an important meeting through the carried symbolical message of support for the European course of the Republic of Moldova as the place of the Republic of Moldova is in the European family.”
