Chisinau finds out about Romanian plan on Transnistria from papers

The Romanian settlement plan of the Transnistrian conflict is known about only from the press, and the Moldovan Government was not officially informed the existence of such a plan, declared on Wednesday, June 7, the head of the Informational-Analytic Department of the Ministry of Reintegration, Alexandru Flenchea at a debate organized by IDIS “Viitorul”. According to him, at present, the Republic of Moldova bases itself on the Iuscenko conflict settlement plan that was accepted by all sides and is viable, offering clear settling perspectives on the conflict. Referring to the situation in the Transnistrian region, Flenchea said that between sides there is no military tension. “Today it is necessary to ensure the transparence and stability in the security zone, namely in Dorotcaia, harbor utility in Varnita, the train station from the same locality and in other situations when the right on free circulation of goods and movement of persons is infringed and when the peace-keeping forces accept the presence of armed persons in the security zone, fact that is violating the provisions of the agreement from 1992. According to the expert, all these premises entail to the idea that at the moment there are not needed massive military forces to maintain the stability in the security zone. “The mechanism we need now is a compact and mobile mission of military and civil observers who will ensure the mentioned-above rights and freedoms”, ended Flenchea.
