The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) has dismissed a proposal by AMN councilor Oleg Cernei, by PL councilor Mihai Ghimpu and the PL faction leader Corina Fusu to hear the municipal police as to several issues, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Oleg Cernei asked Thursday at the CMC's session to hear a report of Chisinau police commissar Eugen Axentiev on the financial activity of the Police General Commissariat. “I want to know what we allocate 72 million lei for to our much beloved municipal police,” Cernei stated, mentioning they buy “luxurious cars and sumer-modern helmets,” but attack municipal councilors. Oleg Cernei referred to Sunday's incidents (Oct. 5) in Chisinau's downtown when the police fought Liberal members, as they were rolling our their Caravan against the Russian Army in in Moldova, and has said the police “defends only the Communist councilors.”
Cernei has said “from the entrance into the City Hall to the session hall there are 20 policemen dressed as civilians.” “We are in the fools' country, not in the law's country,” Cernei said.
Corina Fusu and Mihai Ghimpu have also asked deputy commissar Iacob Gumenita to explain the incidents from the last weekend and the search of the office of Health Direction Mihai Moldovanu on October 8. “We give our no-trust vote to the municipal police and to Axentiev,” PL faction leader Corina Fusu stated.
After the majority of councilors voted against putting the issue on the session agenda, police deputy commissar Iacob Gumenita left the floor, refusing to talk to journalists. After Sunday's incidents, on Monday, Oct. 6, Gumenita accused general mayor Dorin Chirtoaca (PL vice president) of “intimidating the municipal police.”
