Chisinau City Hall to patronize reconstruction of St Matrona Church

The Chisinau City Hall pledged to patronize the reconstruction of Saint Matrona Church located in the park “La Izvor”. The church burned in a fire on February 19, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca Monday said a part of the money for the reconstruction will be allocated form the reserve fund. He announced the launch of a fundraising campaign to collect money for the repair of the church and urged the municipal divisions and companies and civil society to get involved. He said a bank account number for donations will be published on the City Hall’s website. In Monday’s meeting at the City Hall, representatives of the Municipal Emergencies Division and the police commissariat of Buiucani district announced they are trying to establish the cause of fire. Valeriu Nemerenco, the head of Buiucani district, said that most probably it was an arson attack. He also said that the church was made from wood and the flames engulfed it quickly.
