The municipality has announced that, in accordance with the current normative documents, the classes with extended hours remain functional. Also, officials of the local public administration said that MP Gaik Vartanean next week will register in Parliament a draft law on the allocation of financial sources for the functioning of groups with extended regime for educational institutions across the country, including the municipality of Chisinau, IPN reports.

The General Division of Education, Youth and Sports created a working group that, for its part, will work out a new mechanism for the functioning of groups with prolonged hours, but also of other after-school educational activities based on the current normative documents.

The municipality accuses the central authorities of discriminatory attitude in the allocation of financial sources from the public budget. “Over the last few years, the financial burden on the Chisinau municipal budget exceeded 1.3 billion lei as a result of various decisions to give additional financial powers by the state, through Parliament, without allocating financial resources to the Chisinau City Hall for covering the cost of this power assignment exercise, but also the costs incurred by the municipality, in the absence of the possibility of reimbursement or coverage,” Vasile Chirilescu, head of the Public Relations and Civil Budget Division of the Chisinau City Hall, told reporters.

The official made the statements after PAS councilors on Thursday staged a flash-mob meeting in front of the Chisinau City Hall, where they demanded that the mayor should allocate the necessary funds for the groups with prolonged hours of primary classes in Chisinau, as it happened during many years.
