The Chisinau authorities propose that Moldova's entire territory, including Transnistria, should be included in the scope of the Convention on minor frontier traffic, reads a declaration by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. A delegation fo the Moldovan Foreign Ministry is holding talks in Bucharest today, May 14, Info-prim Neo reports.
Moldova has always expressed its availability to start the talks with Romania on this issue. The position of the Moldovan side grounds on the will to maximumly increase the scope of the frontier zone, not restricting its depth to 30-50 km only, taking into account Moldova's compact territory, as well as the availability permanently displayed by the Romanian diplomacy to support Moldova on the way of European integration, the statements points out.
At the same time, the Foreign Ministry mentions that the text of the Convention uses the notion of Moldo-Romanian state border, while this state border is not established in any document. In this context, the Ministry considers it necessary to sign the convention concomitantly with the Treaty on the Moldo-Romanian border.
It is obvious that, without a border treaty, discussing all the matters, which in some way or another are related to the regime of crossing the border, is impossible, the declaration states.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration states that it notes the misinforming campaign on the issue of the minor frontier traffic, conducted by a range of political forces. The Foreign Ministry warns the Moldovan citizens the Convention is not a permit to enter the European Union freely and does not offer the possibility to enter Romania without visa, but only the possibility to enter, without visa, a limited area of Romania, equal to a similar area in the Moldovan territory.
