MP Chiril Moţpan, chair of the Committee for national security, defense and public order, will request from the Public Service Agency (PSA) information regarding road traffic violations committed by former elected officials. The lawmaker would like to know "who and how many times has avoided punishment”.

The MP wrote on Facebook that upon attempting to pay a fine which "resulted from an administrative contravention, committed involuntarily", he learned that MPs were "immune against traffic regulation punishments".

According to Chiril Moţpan, former representatives did not pay fines for road traffic violations. "I would not know this if I haven't committed a violation myself. I was surprised when the officer asked for my deputy ID card. When asked why he needs the document, I was bewildered to find out that, upon presenting the card, MPs are acquitted of contraventions”, wrote Chiril Moţpan.

The mp added that he told PSA clerks that "all citizens are equal before the law, regardless of their social status". The MP states that he immediately paid the fine.
