Chinese clothing culture is presented for the first time at an exhibition hosted by the National Museum of History of Moldova. Yan Wenbin, China’s Ambassador to Moldova, stressed the importance of the exhibition for promoting the cultural exchange between China and Moldova. The diplomat voiced hope that this event will strengthen the cooperation between the two countries, IPN reports.

The exhibition entitled “Dialogue in Space and Time” presents the evolution of clothing in China starting with the 14th century, the Ming dynasty, the Qing dynasty and the modern era. Traditional clothing items characteristic of the Miao, Tibetan and Uyghur Chinese peoples are also on display. China’s ambassador to Moldova said that a total of about 30 handmade suits are presented. The diplomat added that the People’s Republic of China is a multiethnic country, where each ethnic group has its own traditions and customs, and invited the Moldovan citizens to visit it to discover this diversity.

Eugen Sava, director general of the National Museum of History of Moldova, said that it is a premiere exhibition in the Republic of Moldova which reflects the history of clothing of national minorities from ancient times up to the present. They are absolutely identical copies of traditional costumes, made in China and brought to Moldova. The exhibition is one of the important components of the cooperation between the National Museum of History and the People’s Republic of China.

The exhibition was inaugurated on the International Museum Day and will be open to the general public until June 21.
