The children in Porumbesti village of Cantemir district will go to a new kindergarten built with the financial support of the Government of Romania. The kindergarten will have a capacity of 90 places and will be opened within a month, IPN reports.
Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and his Romanian counterpart Victor Ponta visited the building site on October 10. “This effort to modernize the preschool education institutions will change the realities in the Moldovan villages and towns and will facilitate people’s lives as a village with a kindergarten is a living village,” said Iurie Leanca.
“I believe in the European road of Moldova and in the development objectives of the country. If we do nice things in Romania, we want to do something nice on the other side of the Prut too. Therefore, we decided to allocate another €3 million for kindergartens,” stated Victor Ponta.
The cost of the project is 8.8 million lei, 6 million lei of which was provided by Romania.
The Romanian Government has so far offered €20 million for modernizing the preschool education institutions in Moldova. The money will be invested in 859 institutions. Of them, 130 will be equipped, while the others will be rehabilitated.
