Child with rare genetic disease transported by SMURD helicopter to Iasi

A seven-year-old child who suffers from a rare genetic disease was transported by a SMURD helicopter to Iasi, to Saint Maria Clinical Emergency Hospital for Children. The boy, in an extremely serious condition, was admitted to the Mother and Child Institute in Chisinau, IPN reports.

The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations said that the patient was transported by doctors from the Emergency Medicine Institute to Dinamo stadium in Chisinau. There, the child was taken over in conditions of maximum safety by the SMURD Romania crew. The doctors will monitor the patient’s condition throughout the flight.

According to the Inspectorate, this is the fifth SMURD aero-medical intervention performed for citizens of the Republic of Moldova so far this year.
