The two-year boy from Ungheni, who fell from the sixth floor into the elevator shaft, on Wednesday afternoon was transferred to Chisinau by Aviasan. At the Mother and Child Institute, he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

Contacted by IPN for details, the Institute’s spokesman Maxim Cazacu said that the patient was brought in an extremely serious condition. He suffered craniocerebral trauma, injuries to the pelvic bones and others.

The case occurred on September 11 in a residential building in Ungheni. Preliminarily, it was established that the mother put the stroller between the doors to hold the elevator and returned to get a bag. At that point she heard a noise. The boy fell into the elevator shaft when the elevator went up to one of the upper floors. After the incident, an intervention group was created in the municipality of Ungheni to check the security of all elevator systems in the city. They will be temporarily turned off and will only be restarted if they meet the security standards.
