An 11-year-old boy was injured by a football goal that fell over him in Tiraspol. It happened in the courtyard of an apartment building situated close to “Orhideea” shopping center, IPN reports.

The Transnistrian press reported that the boy was diagnosed with a closed brain injury, a concussion and eye injury. He was admitted to the surgery unit and doctors say that his life is out of danger.

Local sources said the goals on that lot had fallen on children in the past as well.

On the right bank of the Nistru, there were several similar cases. On May 31, 2023, a 15-year-old minor died after a football goal fell on in Ciocana district of Chisinau. The teen was on the football pitch together with other minors when he hanged on the gate. At a certain moment, the goal fell over the boy. The minor was rushed to the hospital by an ambulance, but didn’t survive.

In April this year, a 7-year-old child from Sângerei district was admitted to the
hospital in a serious condition after a football goal fell on him. It happened before the eyes of his mother who came to watch the match at the local stadium. The boy was rushed to the district hospital and was then transferred to Chisinau. Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco called then on all the local public authorities, schools and other institutions that manage sports grounds, including football fields, to carry out a safety check on football goals so as to prevent serious accidents, especially involving children.
