Child benefit provided by Romanian state to be increased

The benefit for children of citizens holding Romanian nationality will be raised by 10.4% from January 1, 2025, IPN reports.

According to the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Romania, the child benefit will be increased from 719 to 794 lei for children under two years or with disabilities and from 292 to 323 lei for children older than two years.

“The 3.6 million children, as well as the young people who attend high schools and vocational schools will receive increased state allowances. The necessary funds come from the budget of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, and the payments are managed by the National Agency for Payment and Social Inspection, said Romania’s Minister of Labor and Social Protection Simona Bucura Oprescu.

The last time the state child benefit was increased by 13.8% in January 2024.
