Volunteers and representatives of state institutions took part in the charity running race “On the Road with Santa Claus!” which was held in “Valea Morilor” Park in Chisinau. The race was preceded by the collection of presents brought by each runner for children from socially vulnerable families, IPN reports.
As the previous year, the charity run was organized by the Parliament’s commission on national security, defense and public order together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defense and the nongovernmental organization CCF Moldova (Child, Community, Family). The commission’s head Lilian Carp said the event is aimed at gathering gifts for children.
Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said the holidays are an additional occasion for coming together, for saying thank you to each other, for encouraging each other and, surely, for doing nice things for children.
Minister of Internal Affairs Adrian Efros said that society is used to see rigid persons in the forces that maintain security and public order, but today the employees of the MIA want to show that they have feelings of empathy, care and solidarity with the whole community.
Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatyi said that ahead of the holidays, the employees of the Ministry of Defense set the goal of contributing to bringing smiles, happiness and a holiday atmosphere to the families in need. “Nice things are done in a nice society like the Republic of Moldova, with European aspirations, with aspirations for the future,” stated the official.
CCF Moldova president Liliana Rotaru said that any country is judged by the living conditions of children, by the level of education, by the state of wellbeing, by the way in which the children feel protected and loved by the whole society. There are children and families that need assistance. These families love the children, but cannot offer them presents as they daily struggle to have what to eat. Each year CCF Moldova works with about 700 children. This year, a part of these children or all of them will enjoy the presents brought by the runners with a good intention.
The charity race “On the Road with Santa Claus!” is at its second edition.
