The Centrist Union of Moldova does not run in the snap parliamentary elections of July 11, but calls on the citizens to vote for the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”. The Union’s president Mihai Petrache considers PPPDA in the previous Parliament was the most combative and efficient group. This party is a reliable political partner that showed that it does not betray its partners, IPN reports.

In a news conference at IPN, the leader of the Centrist Union of Moldova said the main reason why the Centrist Union does not run in elections is the fact that it wants to reduce the density of contenders per square meter and to offer the main election competitors the chance to form a stable and functional pro-European democratic majority in the future Parliament.

According to Mihai Petrache, some of the political players and election runners have illusions about the election outcome and do not take into account the fact that the Republic of Moldova is condemned to be governed by majority coalitions. Any attempt to win an absolute majority in the parliamentary elections is counterproductive as no political party, either of the right, the center or the left, has chances to obtain an absolute majority in Parliament and assume responsibility for governing the country.

Mihai Petrache warns that the parliamentary elections are different form the presidential ones. “In the first round of the presidential elections, the citizens usually vote with the heart, based on feelings, on corporate relations and ties of kindred, being able to correlate the vote in the runoff, when they are imposed by the situation to take a reasonable, calculated decision and give the vote to candidate they consider the best. In the parliament elections, this variant does not work as there is only one round of voting. Therefore, I call on the citizens to assume responsibility for voting reasonably,” stated the politician.

He urged the citizens to consider the deeds of the election runners and the effects of their activity in the previous Parliament and to vote not only for the leader of a party, but for the whole team.
