The National Bank of Moldova published the selling prices of jubilee and commemorative coins issued in 2011-2018. The golden coin with the inscription “100 years of Bessarabia’s Union with Romania” with the face value of 1,000 lei is the most expensive one. This costs over 26,000 lei, IPN reports.
The golden coin “20 years of introduction of national currency in the Republic of Moldova” will be sold for 11,399 lei, while the golden coin “555 years of enthronement of Stephan the Great and Holy” for 11,246 lei.
The golden coin “Constantin Stere” of the series “Alley of Classical Writers of the Public Garden “Stefan cel Mare si Sfant” costs 6,332 lei. The coins “Alexei Mateevici – 100 years of the death“ and “Mihail Kogalniceanu – 200 years of the birth” cost 6,290 lei each, “Ion Creanga” – 5,797 lei, while “Adrian Paunescu” – 5,783 lei.
The silver coin “100 years of Bessarabia’s Union with Romania” will be sold for 724 lei. Other silver coins also cost less than 1,000 lei: “Grigore Vieru – 80 years of the birth” – 692 lei; “20 years of introduction of national currency in the Republic of Moldova” – 675 lei ; “100 years of foundation of People’s Council”– 652 lei; “1900 years of inauguration of Trajan’s Colum” – 609 lei ; “Coin dedicated to the European Year of Citizens” – 576 lei; “Vladimir Andrunakevich – 100 years of the birth” – 599 lei, “Ion Vatamanu – 80 years of the birth” – 599 lei and “Triangular China Pink” of the series “Red Book of the Republic of Moldova” – 502 lei.
The following coins cost less than 500 lei: “Maria Dragan – 70 years of the birth” – 467 lei; “Eugen Doga – 80 years of the birth” – 437 lei; “Alexei Mateevici – 100 years of the death” and “Mihail Kogalniceanu – 200 years of the birth” – 454 lei. The coin dedicated to popular traditions, named “Carol”, costs 422 lei. The coins “Pommer Mansion in Taul village of Donduseni district”, “Maria Biesu – 80 years of birth” and “Black marsh turtle” can be bought for 389 lei each.
The coin “20 years of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova” costs 386 lei. The coin “125 years of the foundation of the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History” will be sold for 385 lei; “Constantin Constantinov – 100 years of the birth” for 373 lei, while the coins “Constantin Stere” (silver), “Otter”, “Lady’s slipper orchid”, “Mazarache Church of Chisinau” and “Summer Olympic Games” for 371 lei each. The coins “Soroca Fortress”, “Miorita – 160 years of the ballade’s publication”, “Sanzienele” and “Butuceni Monastery” cost 370 lei each. The full list is available here.
A 200 lei banknote issued on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the introduction of the national currency in the Republic of Moldova is on sale for 222 lei.
The jubilee and commemorative coins and banknotes issued by the National Bank are sold through the agency of licensed Moldovan banks. The selling price is set independently, but can be by only 3% higher than the price at which the coins and banknotes are bought from the National Bank.
