CEC to approve its work program for election campaign

The Central Election Commission (CEC) will come together for a meeting on April 5 to approve the work program of the institution and the subordinate bodies for the period of the campaign preceding the June 5 local elections. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, CEC president Iurie Ciocan said that immediately after the program is approved, the local electoral bodies will start to be created. “The local bodies will deal with the registration of the election contenders. All the accreditation procedures and the organizational activities will be coordinated by the authorities of the first and second levels,” Iurie Ciocan said. He also said that the candidates will be registered during a month. The campaign for every candidate starts when they are registered. The date of the local elections was set by Parliament last week. Four parties have announced their candidates for mayor of Chisinau so far. They are the Liberal Party with Dorin Chirtoaca, the Communist Party with Igor Dodon, the Democratic Party with Valentina Buliga, and the Christian Democratic People's Party with Radu Busila.
