Each party and electoral bloc participating in the general local elections of November 5 will be allowed to borrow up to 50,000 lei interest-free for campaigning purposes, while independent candidates will be allowed 10,000 lei. The limits and rules for taking out and repaying interest-free loans by electoral competitors have been established by the Central Electoral Commission.
The general limit for funds that can be used for campaigning by electoral competitors in each constituency is 66,274,579 lei, based on a coefficient of 23.9 lei for one voter.
Per the electoral legislation, the general limit represents 0.1% of state budget revenues expected in the respective year.
Nomination of candidates for level II constituencies, in district councils, municipal councils, and mayors of Chisinau and Bălţi is formally allowed from September 6.
