The Central Election Commission (CEC) requested the Chisinau Appeals Court to annul the registration of the Shor Party’s candidate Vitalie Balinschi as a contender in single-member constituency No. 38 Hâncești, IPN reports.
CEC president Dorin Cimil in a press briefing said the given election runner didn’t respect the electoral legislation and used undeclared financial resources and tangible assets.
According to Dorin Cimil, the CEC has video evidence and reports on the ascertained irregularities. A number of voters from single-member constituency No. 38 Hâncești were questioned and these confirmed that they benefitted from transport services and free food products provided by the election runner.
The official noted that CEC is not politically biased in favor of one contender or another and the decision was taken based on the Constitution, the Election Code and other regulations.
The court is to examine the application within five days.
