The Central Election Commission revised its decision concerning the establishment of polling stations for voters from the left side of the Nistru, in Bender municipality and some of the villages of Căușeni district for the snap parliamentary elections of July 11, 2021. Three of the 44 polling stations agreed initially were eliminated – two in Bender town and one in Corjova village, IPN reports.
“The decision was taken following discussions on the issue held within the Joint Control Commission and in a move not to allow actions that can endanger the proper conduct of the electoral process. The General Police Inspectorate ascertained difficulties in ensuring the functionality of the electoral process in the polling places in Bender municipality and Corjova village of Dubăsari district,” the CEC noted in a press release.
As regards the other polling stations, the Commission was informed about the readiness to take the agreed measures to maintain public order in the settlements where these stations will be located.
According to the State Voter Register, there are over 258,000 Moldovans eligible to vote in the Transnistrian region.
