Four political parties and two electoral blocs can start the campaign prior to the snap parliamentary elections of July 11. The Central Election Commission (CEC) on May 21 registered all the entities that filed the required documents on the first day of submissions, May 14, IPN reports.

These are:
1. Electoral Bloc of the Communists and the Socialists
2. “Building Europe at Home” Party
3. Common Action Civic Congress Party
4. Electoral Bloc “Renato Usatîi”
5. Party of Action and Solidarity
6. Shor Party.

As of today, the registered election contenders can extensively and freely debate the electoral programs, political, professional and personal qualities of candidates and can campaign as part of meetings and assemblies with voters, through the agency of the mass media, by displaying electoral posters or through other forms of communication.

Commenting on press reports that PAS candidate Nata Albot was caught at the Chisinau Airport with 0.78 grams of marijuana, the party’s leader Igor Grosu said Nata Albot will soon come with a reaction. He called on the election runners to show common sense and have a civilized behavior in the election campaign. He said the PAS condemns the dirty attacks that affect the democratic process.

Shor Party MP Marina Tauber said that this time their party can obtain a majority of seats of MP so as to continue the good projects and activities started in Orhei. Her mate Denis Ulanov called on the CEC not to yield to political provocations.

Except for the registered parties, the Professionals Movement “Speranţa – Nadejda” (“Hope”) and the Democratic Party of Moldova also applied to be registered and their documents are being examined.

The potential election competitors can submit applications to be registered until June 11, which is not later than 30 days before the election day.
