The Central Electoral Commission on Monday received signature lists endorsing two candidates for president of Moldova. The Commission now has up to 7 days to verify the signatures before deciding on the registration of the two candidates.
Because the lists were brought on the same day, the candidates drew lots to decide who will get a higher preliminary slot on the ballot. As a result, the former Gagauzia governor of Gagauzia Irina Vlah was assigned #5, and the former prime minister Ion Chicu got #6.
To date, CEC has registered ex-prosecutor general Alexandr Stoianoglo, endorsed by the Socalist PSRM, and the incumbent president Maia Sandu, supported by PAS. The signatures submitted by Our Party’s Renato Usatîi and the former prime minister Vasile Tarlev are pending verification.
