Moldova's Central Election Commission (CEC) has not yet tabulated the results of the April 5 parliamentary elections, although it stated on April 6 that the results will be made public on April 8.
CEC deputy chairwoman Renata Lapti has told Info-Prim Neo that “we still work.” “We have to receive the original copies of the minutes. Today we expect all the results from abroad to come in. They have not arrived yet, because the diplomatic mail needs time to send them.” There are seven polling stations more in Chisinau to be checked, Renata Lapti has added.
When asked whether the final results may be made public till later today, the CEC deputy chair said: “it depends how we will manage it.”
After processing 98.18% of the polling station minutes, four parties passed over the 6-per-cent threshold to enter the parliament. The Communists Party (PCRM) gained 49.95% of the votes (and is likely to get 61 seats), the Liberal Party (PL) – 12.79% (15 seats), the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) – 12.26% (14 seats) and Our Moldova Alliance – 9.81% (11 seats).
