The Central Election Commission (CEC) agreed the instructions concerning the participation by political parties and other sociopolitical organizations in the election campaign prior to the national consultative referendum and the calendar program for the organization and holding of the plebiscite, IPN reports.
After the CEC publishes the list of parties and other sociopolitical organizations that have the right to take part in the national referendum, but not earlier than 60 days and not later than 30 days of the referendum day, these can apply to be registered as participants in the referendum. Within three days, the Commission will examine the filed documents and will take a decision as to the registration of the applicant as a participant in the plebiscite or the reasoned refusal to register this.
When this is registered, the participant in the referendum will benefit from free and paid airtime and will be able to take part in electoral debates according to the procedure defined in the legislation and the current regulations.
The campaign prior to the referendum will be financed in accordance with the legislation and a bank account with the mention “Electoral fund” will be opened for transferring own money and donations from private individuals and legal entities from the country.
According to the Ministry of Justice, there were 45 parties and other sociopolitical organizations entitled to take part in a consultative referendum on July 14, 2017.
