The Central Election Commission tabulated the results of the presidential runoff and declared the Socialist candidate Igor Dodon the elation winner, IPN reports.
In a meeting on November 18, CEC president Alina Russu said 1 616 023 voters cast ballots in the runoff elections. Of these, 834 081 voted for Igor Dodon, while 766 593 for his opponent Maia Sandu.
Igor Dodon was declared President-elect because he won the largest number of votes in the runoff. The proceedings will be sent to the Constitutional Court for the results to be validated.
