The mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban revealed details about the cooperation with the Government while this was led by Ion Chicu. Ceban said the ex-Premier ignored the problems of the capital city even if the municipality significantly contributes to supporting the whole country. Furthermore, Ceban denied the rumors that he intends to return to the political arena and said that the proper management of Chisinau is now his priority, IPN reports.
In months of the resignation of Chicu, the mayor of Chisinau admits that he didn’t have really fruitful cooperation relations with Chicu. Ceban voiced hope that when the new Government is invested, this will have good relations with representatives of the municipality, to the benefit of the citizens of the capital city and of the whole country.
“Ion Chicu is a very difficult man. There were many cases when we could not come to terms and I regret it as the issues I raised concerned not only me, but all the inhabitants of the capital city. Given that Chisinau is the main donor that supports the whole country, he should have devoted increased attention to these problems,” Ion Ceban stated in the program “Friday with Anatolie Golea” on RTR channel.
Ion Ceban denied the rumors that he intends to take over a party and said that he now aims to develop and modernize the city. Furthermore, he will not become involved in the campaign in favor of the Electoral Bloc of the Communists and the Socialists as he stopped being a member of the Party of Socialists when he took up as a mayor in 2019.
“There were many rumors that I will become involved in politics before the snap parliamentary elections, but they didn’t come true. I do not forget the team that supported me as it would have been very hard without their support. I fully support the mates from the PCRM-PSRM bloc and wish them to score a victory, but I will not become involved in the campaign. In the presidential elections, I joined the campaign team for several days only and I think I did it right,” stated Ceban.
In the presidential elections of 2020, Ion Ceban campaigned in favor of Igor Dodon even if he was no longer a member of the PSRM.
