A new political bloc, "Alternativa," has emerged on the political stage in the Republic of Moldova. It was announced today by Ion Ceban, Alexandr Stoianoglo, Ion Chicu, and Mark Tkaciuk.
In a press conference at IPN, the leader of the National Alternative Movement (MAN), Ion Ceban, the mayor of Chisinau, stated that the country needs political maturity and the consolidation of strong, healthy forces more than ever to face the current situation.
"All of us here believe that we have enough experience, capacity, and professionalism to deliver results. This is evidenced by the things we have accomplished over the years," said the MAN leader.
"To avoid any questions, we advocate for European integration as a major goal for the country. We speak and write in Romanian. We know there is a war and aggression against Ukraine. Our focus must be on the needs of the people, our citizens. Moldova and the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, whether at home or abroad, will be our priority," Ion Ceban added.
Former Attorney General Alexandr Stoianoglo explained his joining of this bloc by his desire to promote the priorities he launched during last year's presidential election campaign. The former presidential candidate, who had the support of the Socialist Party during the election, said he advocates for the consolidation of society, as people can no longer be divided along various lines.
The leader of the Party of Consolidation and Development, former Prime Minister Ion Chicu, clarified that this political bloc is a commitment to responsibility before the citizens. According to him, there are many problems today, and to solve them, responsibility is needed. "I want to express my conviction that, despite the difficulties and the gravity of the problems, we can succeed if we are united, if we all combine our efforts," Ion Chicu stated.
Former MP Mark Tkaciuk, one of the leaders of the "Civic Congress" party, noted that it is important to restore citizens' trust in the state. People are increasingly disappointed and have less and less confidence in the rule of law, in elections, in democracy, and in freedom of speech. The new bloc will set an example of a political class that reflects the interests of the citizens.
