Police and prosecutors seized over 192,000 lei from a Șansă/Chance Party member after searching his Bălți home on Monday. The search is part of a criminal probe started in August into illegal funding of political parties and candidates.
According to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, the search was warranted after investigators learned that the suspect had received cash from a courier and started dispensing it on costs that included attendance in campaign rallies and plain vote-buying.
The Office added that it also tracked down recipients of such cash, who already confessed to receiving it from the Șansă Party.
In October, police and prosecutors conducted 70 searches in this case.
