The viaduct connecting Centru and Botanica districts of the capital will be opened for traffic on both ways by Sunday afternoon or, depending on certain conditions, by Monday morning. This statement belongs to the deputy head of the Transport General Dept, Alexei Varlan, who told Info-Prim Neo that the viaduct will be fully restored by August 7.
The civil servant says that the repair works will last a week shorter due to the fair weather. Those three enterprises engaged in reconstruction - “Poduri Prim”, “Edilitate JSC” and “Exdrupo AD”, consolidated the bridge’s frame, replaced the steel spans with steel-rubber ones, asphalted and hydroisolated it. Besides, “Semafor-Service”, “Green Spaces Assn” and “Lumteh” provided the viaduct with illumination systems, traffic signs, refitted green spaces and marking lines. The traffic for vehicles was closed for 3 days while workers are operating final works, so that the viaduct would be fully resorted by Sunday afternoon or Monday morning, Varlan says.
The first stage of the repair works, produced in 2005, spent MDL 12.4 mln, used to asphalt 12 thousand square meters of road. The costs of the second stage were estimated at MDL 13 mln.
Those 3 bridges of the viaduct have a total length of 884 meters.
