Capital market witnessed significant growths, NCFM

The two sectors of the capital market, the primary and secondary ones, had seen significant growths in the first nine months of this year. The number of securities issues on the primary segment grew 1.6 times (from 25 to 40 issues). The cumulative value of transactions with corporate securities on the secondary market rose about 21 times compared with the corresponding period last year, IPN reports.

A total of 40 securities issues to the value of 2.079,88 billion lei were recorded on the primary segment of the capital market in nine month. The value is over ten times higher than in same period of 2021.

The foreign direct investment in the period came to 44.79 million lei or 2.15% of the total securities issue, down in 52.34% on 2021.

According to the National Commission for Financial Markets (NCFM), a bond issue by a local public authority to the value of 65 million lei was recorded in January-September 2022. This was the third issue of the kind in Moldova.

The transactions with corporate securities on the secondary capital market in the first nine months of this year added up to 514.24 million, up 274.77 million lei (about 2.1 times) on January-September 2021. The total number of transactions decreased yet from 7,486 to 2,375.

The total value of transactions concluded in the period within the multilateral trading facility (MTF) was 5.95 million lei, down 24.52%, with the number of transactions declining from 70 to 63. Outside the regulated market and the MTF, there were performed 2,150 transactions to the value of 133.82 million lei.

Based on the licenses and permits authorizing professional activity on the capital market issued by the NCFM, the following professional participants performed activities and provided services: a market operator that manages and exploits the regulated market and the MTF; seven bank investment societies; seven nonbank investment societies; eight register societies and five evaluation companies.
