The Liberal Party’s team greeted the results of the exit poll with applause. Dorin Chirtoaca said the figures gladden him, but he is waiting for the official results confirmed by the Central Election Commission, Info-Prim Neo reports. ”We hope that the results will be confirmed. Either this evening or in two weeks, the work at the City Hall will be continued with a democratic majority. These are crucial elections as they can enable to modernize the municipality and not return to communism and everything that means lie and propaganda,” Dorin Chirtoaca said in a press briefing held after the exit poll results were made public. Dorin Chirtoaca said the leaders of the ruling alliance should meet on June 6 to discuss the formation of a democratic majority in the Chisinau Council. In a televised intervention, the Communist candidate Igor Dodon said the exit poll results are designed to manipulate the observers and voters. “I assure you that they try to influence you and affect you psychologically not only in the municipality of Chisinau. It happens all over Moldova. Those who now rejoice, like Dorin Geoana (allusion to the presidential elections in Romania) and others, will see different official results tomorrow. The aim of the exit poll is to confuse the observers and the representatives of polling places, who are involved in very important procedures that started at 21.00 and will last for several hours,” said Igor Dodon. ”I ascertained that we have and continue to live in a capital city that is politically polarized and divided,” the PDM’s candidate for mayor Valentina Buliga said during a program on Publika TV. Independent candidate Mihai Godea said the people have not yet overcome certain mentality clichés and thus the vote is polarized. “We will see if the Central Election Commission confirms these results. We will anyway go on,” he stated. The exit poll shows 52.7% of the voters in Chisinau chose Dorin Chirtoaca, 41% - Igor Dodon, 2.3% - Valentina Buliga, while 1% - Mihai Godea. The other candidates polled less than 1%. The poll has a margin of sampling error of plus/minus 2%. It covered a sample of over 6,000 voters questioned at 55 polling places.
