The construction of the Cantemir Boulevard will destroy the historical centre of the capital city and will not solve the problem of traffic jams that rather require a ring road network, said Thursday the Social-Liberal Party (SPL) candidate for Chisinau mayor, Corneliu Ciurea, during the presentation of his electoral programme, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The SLP candidate numbered 5 priorities of his electoral programme, the first being to bring to the Chisinau City Hall a young team of managers educated abroad that will be responsible for the life of the capital city and for its residents.
Another desideratum expressed in his programme referred to conserving the historical centre of the capital, which should also become a cultural, touristic and amusement centre. Ciurea says that his party has several such projects that will be implemented once he gets the mayor’s post and his party colleagues become municipal councillors.
The third priority that Ciurea is championing relates to the dwelling fund, which needs to be rehabilitated, including the heating system. According to Ciurea, the dwelling space from the old houses should be vacated in order to be offered to those who lack possibilities to purchase or to build a new house.
The problem of the city transport, in Ciurea’s opinion, requires a ring road system, freeways for high-speed traffic, underground and multi-storied parking facilities.
For his part, Oleg Serebrian, president of the Social-Liberal Party, said that it has become a great opportunity to appeal to the help of foreign counsellors from different European countries that have a rich experience in public administration.
Serebrian specified that PSL presented for these elections lists of candidates for all the suburban localities and 13 candidates running for mayors of the localities within the Chisinau municipality, as well as 7,000 candidates for the entire republic. The slogan of the party during the lections will be: “Educated. Responsible. Motivated.” - for Chisinau and “One country. One nation. One destiny.” – at the national level. SPL advocates for a unified state, EU integration, strong relations with USA and Germany and a special one with Romania. They also plead for reducing the taxes and establishing a flat rate tax on income; offering a large autonomy to the Transnistrian region; liberalising the agricultural market; demilitarising the country etc.
