The referendums set to take place in Gagauzia on February 2, which were declared illegal by the central authorities, are supported financially by businessman Renato Usaty, IPN reports.

“I decided to offer 500,000 lei to the administration of Gagauzia for organizing the referendums arranged for February 2. Dear Governor Formuzal, the ship that defends Moldova’s statehood remained on the waves and is afraid of no storms. With respect to all the residents of Gagauzia, Renato Usatyi”, wrote the businessman.

Last November, the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia decided to hold a legislative referendum on the Gagauz people’s right to self-determination and a consultative referendum with two questions: on Moldova joining the Russia-Belarus-Kazakhstan Customs Union and on Moldova joining the European Union. The Comrat Court annulled the given decisions.
