Over 10,000 companies are eligible to receive state compensation following the recent electricity tariff increases, announced the Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, Dumitru Alaiba.

According to the minister, the compensation program will allow eligible companies to cover up to 50% of the tariff increase for electricity over a period of 3 to 6 months, depending on available financial resources and the specific needs of each sector.

The compensation will be applied starting from the first day of the tariff increase. Detailed regulations are expected to be published soon by the ministry.

Priority will be given to companies producing essential goods, such as food products, milk, meat, eggs, and bread. Additionally, support will extend to other manufacturing sectors, including footwear, clothing, furniture, and electrical components.

"This support is an important step in helping businesses overcome current challenges and maintain their competitiveness", said the Minister of Economy.

In addition to the announced compensation mechanism, entrepreneurs have been able to access a new state aid program for investments starting January 1. Under this program, up to 60% of new business investments will be reimbursed, comprising 25% non-refundable grants and 75% tax exemptions of 50% on income tax.

Another available tool is the "Program 373," which, according to Minister Alaiba, has already facilitated over 700 investments, helping Moldovan companies upgrade their technologies and boost productivity with a total investment of more than 3.5 billion lei.
