Former striker of the national football team of Moldova Igor Bugaiov became citizen of Kazakhstan. Thus, the 29-year-old footballer will be unable to play for the team trained by Ion Caras in the 2016 European Championship preliminaries, IPN reports.

Bugaiov decided to become citizen of Kazakhstan in order to be able to play for Tobol in the new season too. In Kazakhstan, there is a law banning foreigners who turned 30 from playing in the football championship. In February, Bugaiov extended for a year his contract with Tobol, for which he has played since 2012. In the last season, he was the top scorer of Tobol, being named one of the best players of the championship of Kazakhstan.

Bugaiov played the last match for the national team of Moldova on February 26, but coach Ion Caras wasn’t satisfied with his performance in Odessa. Bugaiov played 35 matches for the national team and scored six goals.
