“We hope that Moldova will benefit from the Eastern Partnership, while we, together with other EU member states, will provide all the support needed to see our neighbor closer to its European integration goals,” Bogdan Aurescu, secretary of state at the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said during the summit of SEECP heads of state and government held in Chisinau on June 5, Info-Prim Neo reports. “As a participant in all the forms of regional cooperation in Southeastern Europe, Romania provides all the necessary support in this respect. We offer Moldova an extremely useful instrument for achieving its European integration objectives,” the Romanian official said. Bogdan Aurescu stressed the necessity of strengthening the democratic values and the freedom of the media in the Southeastern European countries and of promoting bilateral relations based on mutual respect for the neighborhood. The head of the European Commission’s Delegation to Moldova Cesare de Montis spoke about the EU’s interest in the cooperation with Moldova. According to the European official, Moldova made progress in implementing European standards. “However, despite the progress made during the last years, some of the countries in Southeastern Europe have a fragile stability and lag behind in carrying out certain reforms, including the combating or organized crime and the development of good neighborhood relations,” Cesare de Montis said.
