The Broadcasting Coordination Council carried out a number of inspections at broadcasting service providers and identified numerous violations. Some of the providers worked illegally or broadcast TV channels without being authorized to do so, IPN reports.
The Council requested respecting the offer of broadcasting services. It intends to inform the law enforcement bodies about the providers working illegally. Also, the holders of authorizations allowing retransmitting TV programs that committed serious violations of the broadcasting legislation were penalized with public warning and a fine of 1,800 to 5,400 lei.
In the Council’s meeting, members suggested warning the holders of copyright on the channels retransmitted illegally so that these could sue the providers and seek damages.
