Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia Kirill postponed his pastoral visit to the Republic of Moldova scheduled for October 27-28 this year. President Igor Dodon made the announcement in the social media… Are there particular interests behind a direct dialog between the head of the Russian Church and the President of the Republic of Moldova? Is this transfer of image before the elections?

It could be as President Igor Dodon already asserts there are risks that the upcoming parliamentary elections will not be recognized. According to him, administrative resources could be used to prevent the registration of an electoral competitor or to void the elections in particular single-member constituencies and the Socialists and other bodies could not recognize the elections.

Even without this communication flop, IPN’s Experts consider the electoral prospects of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) become gloomy. Such a conclusion can be reached based on the statements made by President Igor Dodon in the talk show “Politics of Natalia Morari” broadcast by TV8 channel on October 25, 2018. Indeed, what is the reason for which the holder of the supreme post in the state, the informal leader of the party with the highest rating should start to speak about the possible non-recognition of the results of the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019? The most probable answer is – anticipation of the justifications for an eventual resounding defeat of the PSRM. It is not about a simple defeat resulting from the volatile preferences of voters, but about a defeat forged with the own hands.

On the other hand, if the informal leader of the PSRM is dissatisfied with the conditions in which the elections are to be held, we should understand that there are political parties that have conditions and resources that are more significant than those of the PSRM by the impact they can have. If this is so and the mentioned supposition is right, the President should tell us straightforwardly what those parties are and what kind of special resources they have. Isn’t it about the parties that, as the PSRM, have financial resources from obscure sources, convert goodwill into political propaganda, use the public institutions for party purposes, own propagandistic media holdings, etc.? This is probably so and Igor Dodon thus avoids naming them.

...And he slows down because “Parliament is the one that makes laws in Moldova,” Speaker Andrian Candu stated in the talk show “Forth power” on N4 channel. Under the Constitution, the President is a kind of referee who balances the powers, including the political game of parties. The President is not a political, but an institutional player.

As to the temporary suspensions of the President from office, Andrian Candu said the Head of State cannot have an own candidate in particular posts. This means that he assumes governance directly or indirectly.

Take it easy! It happened namely so under the Communist rule. The Communist leader Vladimir Voronin, in the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, said it proudly that when they ruled, they obtained the Asymmetric Trade Preferences and these had been enough for Moldova for 20 years ahead, but the country should be upgraded to the European standards daily, in all the institutions. The Association Agreement with the European Union imposes very big obligations on the Republic of Moldova and the country is not ready to fulfil them. “This agreement shouldn’t have been signed because it wasn’t considered and the then and current governments didn’t event read it,” stated the politician.

There are yet many proofs that the state inappropriately serves its taxpayers: Prime Minister Pavel Filip requested the Prosecutor’s Office to investigate the cases of dubious management of the farmland owned by agricultural education and research institutions that allocations for whom total about 312 million lei. “The incomes they earn from the owned farmland are equal to zero. Today we can invest large sums of money there, but the result will not improve. On the contrary, the disaster will aggravate,” stated Pavel Filip.

Pavel Filip ordered to constitute  a working group that would suggest solutions for overcoming the critical situation in the field. This will have to work out a plan for restructuring the network of agricultural vocational schools, colleges, universities and research institutions and to notify the Prosecutor’s Office so that this investigates the insolvent experimental technological and training stations that manage the land owned by agricultural education and research institutions.

Dreams with “wishes” form the vice president of the Democratic Party Vladimir Cebotari, who said the stolen US$ 1 billion is on the way to the Republic of Moldova. According to him, over 10% of the stolen funds have been recovered. Where they?

Director of the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul” Igor Munteanu expressed a different opinion. He said no money of the stolen funds has been recovered. The person who is mentioned in the Kroll report for 74 times, Ilan Shor, is under the apparent protection of the Democratic Party. He opened 100 social stores and travels abroad even if he was banned from leaving the country. “This clearly points to the impunity of persons and to selective justice.”

The authors of a new Sic! article reply to Deputy Speaker of Parliament Valeriu Giletski, who probably forgot that the current composition of the legislature reflects not the will expressed by the people in the parliamentary elections of 2014, but rather the ruling party’s ability to enroll and intimidate current parliamentary opponents. The authors note Valeriu Giletski reflects yet rather faithfully the Democratic government’s dissatisfaction with civil society.
