The Briceni Health Center was outfitted with a new ultrasound machine within the “Kusanone” Program. It was purchased with a US$72,000 grant offered by the Government of Japan, IPN reports.

In the project completion ceremony, First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in Moldova Mori Mariko said that the new ultrasound diagnostic device will make it possible to perform several thousand examinations per year. It will make diagnostics more accurate and efficient and reduce the burden on both medical staff and patients.

Also, the First Secretary stressed that Japan has been a partner of Moldova in the medical and healthcare sectors for many years. The project aims to strengthen imaging and patient examination capacities.

Through the agency of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects “Kusanone” that was launched in Moldova in 2008, Japan so far has offered over US$7.3 million in grant funding for 88 projects in education, healthcare, and public utilities.
