Borderless online leaning with interactive projects for Moldovan students

The interactive projects, alongside school subjects, develop the students’ ability to understand current realities and to contribute to team cooperation, said teachers of educational institutions of Chisinau municipality who took part in the crossborder conference “Borderless online leaning, pluridisciplinary partnerships”. According to the teachers, the school must adjust to the changes in society, become interactive and interesting and maintain the students’ interest in acquiring knowledge, IPN reports.

In the conference, there were presented a number of interactive projects in the field of education, which help the teachers to explain through practice to the students the necessity of gaining knowledge in different areas. In this regard, the website www.kitibot.md was launched in Moldova by the model of Romanian’s www.kitibot.ro. These are platforms that promote reading among students.

“These platforms include thousands of schools of Romania and the Republic of Moldova. The idea of the platforms is simple. On the website, there are books in PDF that the students can read. Or they can read the books they have at home and take interactive tests on each of them. A competition is held to see who passes most of the tests. Rankings of schools and students who correctly answer most of the questions are compiled each week. Furthermore, kitibot stages a competition of good deeds. The students post pictures of their good deeds and a competition between them takes place this way,” said the deputy head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport of the Chisinau Municipal Council Daniela Munca-Aftenev.

In the conference, the teachers shared their experience of teaching school subjects in an interactive way so that such difficult subjects as math and physics become more interesting to students.

“We, as teachers, should be the first to change the approaches for the students to learn how to cope with changes in practice. Math is a very vague area and all the math teachers were asked where this knowledge can be used and where those formulas and square roots can be applied. To answer these questions, we launched a project by which we explain how math can bring value added to the daily life. We created the project “Mathematics in the daily life” within which the students built different mockups so that they could perceive math as a building with geometric forms. Later, we explained to them that math is found in such areas as music and dance. We then told them about math in the banking system, medicine and pharmaceutics. The children had interviews with dance teachers and realized the importance of symmetry,” said math teacher of the Theoretical Lyceum “Gheorghe Asachi” Gabriela Draguțan.

“As a result of participation in different projects, the students understand the presented world by developing skills for life. The participation in projects helps the students to develop skills and to extend the experimenting area, to promote the teacher-student and student-student cooperation,” said the teacher of Heritage school Adriana Bujac.

The crossborder conference “Borderless online leaning, pluridisciplinary partnerships” was held as part of the program “Borderless online leaning 2020-2022”. This year the program aims to develop the skills of the 21st century.
