Bookfest International Book Faire returns to Chisinau

The sixth edition of the Bookfest International Book Fair will be staged at Mediacor hub of the Moldova State University during August 30 – September 3. This year too, the event will be held under the high patronage of the President of Moldova Maia Sandu and the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis, IPN reports.

Entrance to all the events that will be held as part of Bookfest Chisinau this year is free of charge. Publishing houses of Romania and Moldova will present books exclusively in Romanian at the fair.

Culture personalities from both sides of the Prut River, like Radu Paraschivescu, Cristian Mungiu, Radu Vancu, Ioana Pârvulescu, Adrian Cioroianu, Veronica D. Niculescu, Ligia Ruscu, Bogdan Creţu, Cristian Tudor Popescu, Cătălin Dorian Florescu, Ștefan Lemny, Liviu Cîmpeanu, George Cornilă, Bogdan Murgescu, Cristian Manolachi, Moni Stănilă, Andreea Iatagan, Vitalie Ciobanu and others, will launch and present books that treat issues of interest for public debates in Moldovan and Romanian societies.

The 2023 Bookfest International Book Fair benefits from financial support from the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova, the Ministry of Culture of Romania and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova. The partners of the event are: USAID, the Embassy of Sweden in the Republic of Moldova, Goethe-Zentrum Chisinau, and the Romanian Cultural Institute. The event is organized by the National Library of the Republic of Moldova, the Moldova State University, the Publishers’ Union of the Republic of Moldova, the Chamber of Trade and Industry of the Republic of Moldova, and the Association of Romanian Publishers.

Bookfest is the most important book fair of Romania and is the editorial industry’s only event that gained a remarkable international dimension. This year it reached its 16th edition in Bucharest.
