A man from Ialoveni town Monday threatened he will blow the Prosecutor General's Office (PG) up. After talking with him for about an hour on the stairs of the PG, Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubko and Minister of the Interior Victor Catan convinced the man to enter the buildings to continue the discussions. Meanwhile, the area was isolated. Police cars, firefighting vehicles and an ambulance were immediately on the spot, Info-Prim Neo reports.
After things calmed down, the head of the Ministry of the Interior's press office Chiril Motpan told the press the man, Eduard Popa, protested thus against a legal case opened against him in 2005-2006. The man said the evidence was fabricated and complained that officers of the Ialoveni police station maltreated him. He threatened he will explode a bomb, but actually had only a bomb model.
The PG's personnel returned to their offices shortly afterward, while access to Banulescu-Bodoni St was unblocked.
Last autumn, a man from Rezina came to the Prosecutor General's Office with a grenade. He said that his son was convicted of murder unjustifiably. After several minutes of negotiations, the man was taken away by a police car.
A number of false bomb threats have been made this year at the Chisinau International Airport, the Chisinau City Hall and other places. Last week, a man warned a bomb was planted at the Russian Embassy in Chisinau. The authors of the bomb scares were identified.
