The Republic of Moldova is confronted by multiple hybrid attacks of the most varied forms, such as overlapped and artificially generated crises whose goal is to impede the path of reforms and European integration that was firmly assumed by the President of the Republic of Moldova and the Government and is clearly supported by the parliamentary majority, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Bogdan Aurescu stated in an interview with Agerpres, being quoted by IPN.
According to the official, one of these crises is generated by the slashing by Gazprom each month of the amounts of natural gas supplied to the Republic of Moldova. “The vigor, determination with which the authorities and the citizens of the Republic of Moldova cope with these extensive challenges is noteworthy,” he stated.
As to the upcoming meeting of the NATO ministers of foreign affairs that will take place in Bucharest next week, Bogdan Aurescu said that Moldova’s participation in such a format actually confirms the importance the allies attach to the stability of the Republic of Moldova, especially during these difficult moments for Chisinau.
“The assistance package decided at the NATO Summit in Madrid offers allied support for the Republic of Moldova’s long-term plans for developing and modernizing the security and defense sector. Also, the strengthneiung of the logistical, training and human resource management capacities are among the important objectives of the NATO support for the Republic of Moldova,” noted Bogdan Aurescu.
He said that the Alliance implements a series of projects to build resilience and strengthen the response capacities in the field of civil emergencies in the Republic of Moldova. “I would note here the recent allocations by Romania to the NATO voluntary funds with US$ 1 300 000 designed to build resilience and defense capabilities for Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, Georgia and Jordan. Of this amount that Romania allocates for supporting the partners, the Republic of Moldova benefits from the most consistent sum – US$600 000,” stated the Romanian official.
The meeting will consist of four sessions centering on the implementation of the decisions taken at the NATO Summit in Madrid, the war in Ukraine, energy security and partners. It will be held during November 29 - 30.
