One day after being accused of misappropriation of funds by his predecessor Octavian Ticu, Minister of Youth and Sport Octavian Bodisteanu produced a reply. “I think that Ticu does this in order to confuse us. I will sue him for his defamatory statements,” Bodisteanu said in a news conference on June 14.
Octavian Bucatari, head of the Ministry’s Professional Sports Division, who was also accused by Octavian Ticu, said that he will go to court too. “These are aberrations,” he stated.
Both Bodisteanu and Bucatari are accused by the former minister of laundering public money. Octavian Ticu, who was questioned at the National Anticorruption Center on June 14, said that Bodisteanu should be held accountable for stealing money from sportspersons.
