Today’s blackout trapped some people in elevators, who required the intervention of rescuers. The General Inspectorate for Emergencies announces that it has continued its activity without interruption. The regional dispatch centers for emergencies were switched to alternative power sources and took over emergency calls from the 112 Service without disrupting operational processes.

The intervention subdivisions were connected to power generators, successfully completing all missions. The connection with the intervention crews was carried out through the communication stations. The teams of rescuers and firefighters were requested in missions to unblock people from elevators, but also in other missions to ensure security, reads a press release from the General Inspectorate.

The IGSU urges people to keep calm, make sure their mobile phones are charged, and in risky situations to call 112.

The shutdown in the Moldovan grid occurred at 2:23 PM, according to the distribution utility Premier Energy. Electricity supply has been restored in some areas, including in Chisinau, while others remain in the dark.

The Government’s Telegram account Primary Source said the Russian bombardment of Ukrainian power facilities this afternoon led to an automatic shutdown of a major line in Moldova that aimed to prevent significant damage to the grid.
