Respects will be paid to the greatest Romanian poet Mihai Eminescu on January 15, when his 157th birth anniversary will be remembered, Info-Prim Neo reports. His admirers and local authorities will lay flowers to the two monuments to Eminescu in Chisinau, located in the square of the Organ Hall and in front of the Writers’ Union, as well as to his monument in the Public Garden’s Alley of Romanian Literature Classics. Eminescu’s life embodies events that happened throughout Romania. He was born in Moldova, spent his early years in Bucovina, studied in Ardeal with Romanians from all the corners of the country, becoming in the end the embodiment of the Romanian spirituality. Eminescu wrote poems, prose, articles, philosophical essays, translations etc. The National Theatre, the Academic Centre, a lyceum, and street in Chisinau, are named after the great poet. Eminescu is the best-known and most influential Romanian poet celebrated in both Romania and Moldova.
