The students attending the public secondary school in Mereșeni commune, Hâncești district, now enjoy better conditions, created with the financial support of by the Government of Japan within the Kusanone Program.
The $91,000 grant was used for rehabilitating the restrooms, the heating system, the electrical grid and the ventilation system. Also, energy-efficient windows were installed. The project contributed to ensuring the well-being and safety of the 110 students, 21 teachers and technical staff and increasing energy efficiency.
“Once Moldova becomes a member of the European Union, the country will make the most of its formidable human resources potential, like never before. As soon as Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine ends, we will see the true rebirth of Moldova”, stated Yamada Yoichiro, Ambassador of Japan to Moldova, during the project completion ceremony.
Students, teachers and the administration of the school, along with representatives of the Hâncești District Council and the Mayor’s Office of Mereșeni, were also in attendance.
The Kusanone human security grant program was launched in Moldova in 2008. To date, Japan has provided $6.9 million in grant funding for 82 projects in the fields of education, health and public utilities.
