The children that go to the Putintei nursery-kindergarten will enjoy better conditions thanks to mini-projects implemented thanks to the German cooperation for development, with the support of the German Embassy. The representatives of the German diplomatic mission visited on Thursday, September 13, the renovated kindergarten to assess the obtained results, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Mayor Elena Soboleva of Putintei village stated that the cooperation with the German Embassy dates since 2008, when the local authorities managed to obtain funding for the first mini-project. That year, the kindergarten obtained €10,000 for purchasing furniture and other household object necessary in the kindergarten. The institution obtained funding the next year as well, this time for the construction of a new heating system, as radiators replaced stoves. The next year, the windows and doors were replaced with new ones, then partly the roof and the linoleum. The overall value of implemented project over four years is €40,000.
Kindergarten director Anastasia Golban said that before the implementation of the projects, the institution lacked even object of basic necessity. “The children slept two on a bed, which is forbidden. There weren’t enough tables. There was no sewerage or aqueduct. We heated by burning wood in the stoves”, she recalled. Anastasia Golban added that the average attendance was 40-50 children and now it rose to 75. Children from Putintei village come to the kindergarten, as well as kids from Vaprova village, which is part of the village. The administration hopes that soon children from Discova village would come as well.
Deputy head of the German Embassy Carsten Wilms said that at the end of each year, the mission organized a tender for approximately 8 projects, with a budget of €10,000. Yearly, there are many requests and after a thorough analysis those which reflect a truly alarming situation are chosen. “A lot depends on the commitment of local authorities. Putintei is an active partner, which contributes to this collaboration”, said Carsten Wilms.
“In choosing the best projects, we pay attention to their sustainability. For children, we need to create a protected environment – we change the windows, we repair the heating installation, the sanitary installations, we save energy, but all these measures should last at least 20-30 years”, said the chancellor of the German Embassy Dorothee Brodure.
75 children from Putintei village and Vaprova village go to the Putintei nursery-kindergarten, organized in three groups.
