Best students will benefit from merit awards

Sixty-seven university and vocational school students will receive merit awards during the new academic year. The list of recipients was approved by the Cabinet in its August 17 meeting, Info-Prim Neo reports. The students had an average grade of minimum 9 or 9.5 in the summer session, depending on the areas of study, and participated actively in scientific researches, conferences, contests, national and international Olympiads. Minister of Education Leonid Bujor said 12 university students will receive the Republic's Scholarship of 1,200 lei, 30 university students – the Government's Scholarship of 1,000 lei, while ten university students and five vocational school students - the President's Scholarship of 1,090 lei and 845 lei respectively. The vocational school students will also benefit from 20 Gaudeamus awards of 730 lei. The merit awards will be paid by the education institutions from their budgets.
